More Than Just a Wine Cafe

A Place to Belong

How It All Began

After spending over a decade working with the PGA on the West Coast, Joe Berry found himself back in Tulsa, managing events for the LPGA and NBA. Life took an unexpected turn in 1991 when Joe’s family patriarch passed away, and he was asked to help look after the family farm in Arkansas. On one of those trips, while borrowing a can of gasoline from a neighboring farmer, Joe noticed a litter of puppies on the front porch. When he returned the gas can, he asked if he could take one of the pups home. The farmer agreed, and as Joe drove out of town with his new companion, he saw the sign: Winslow, Arkansas. Joe glanced at the blue heeler mix in the passenger seat and said with a smile, “Hello, Winslow!”

A Place to Gather

Years later, back in Tulsa, Joe’s nephew Tim came for a visit. That weekend, the two attended a local bar's grand opening. The energy was infectious, and it sparked an idea—what if they created a gathering spot of their own? After returning home, they sat by the fire pit, opened a bottle of wine, and let their imaginations run wild. Scribbling ideas on cocktail napkins, they began shaping the concept of a cozy wine cafe, a place where people could come together to share good wine, food, and conversation. And so, the vision for Winslow’s Wine Cafe was born.

The Top Dog

And that, dear friends, is the story of how your neighborhood wine cafe came to be—named after a blue heeler with one brown eye and one blue eye. The color scheme of the cafe? A quiet tribute to Winslow, “The Top Dog,” whose presence is felt in every corner of the place that now brings so many together.
